I’m so thankful I can incorporate my one word, thankful, into my favorite Friday activity – Five Minute Friday, which I confess takes longer than five minutes for me to compose because I’m a deep slow thinker, but only takes five minutes to read. That counts, right? This week, the word is weary.
GO
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 ESV
16 weeks. Working in a level 1 trauma center. A very busy level 1 trauma center. A very understaffed level 1 trauma center. I’m getting weary. Everyday, it’s getting more challenging to keep away from the things that make me grumble. It’s getting more challenging to be kind to my co-workers. It’s getting harder to do good for the sake of doing good for the sake of Jesus.
The thing about surgery in general and trauma in particular is it doesn’t take long to burn out. Somehow I keep forgetting this fact. One of the best things about working in 13 week contracts is all the rest and recuperation that can be built into the year. But. I. Keep. Forgetting.
Now I’m weary. I’m closing in on the end of a marathon. 5 more weeks until a small break. Just a little while longer. I think I can. I think I can.
STOP
Happy Friday!
