It’s time to be thankful. It’s my one word for 2015. As much as I have been enjoying the Joy Dare prompts, I’m going to abandon them. They’re really good, but somehow they don’t match my own quirky lifestyle. That being said, I’ll reserve them for days when I really can’t seem to be thankful for anything. And that statement seems utterly ridiculous to me today. Lord help me if there comes a day when I can’t find one thing to be thankful for! I will continue to count 1000 Gifts over the next year. I’m just going to count them without the prompts. 🙂

Today’s thankful ~

79. I can’t decide if it’s insomnia that is the culprit or just the simple fact I need less sleep some days than others. I’ve been awake, more or less, since about 4:30am. And I do love the stillness of that hour and hearing the little pig squeak because he thinks I’m getting up.

80. Even the frustration of the tossing and turning leads to an understanding that I am alive to toss and turn.

81. A sister who loves our mom so much she will hold her hand while the nurse takes out the staples from her knees which created so much pain my sister said her hand will be bruised. Our mother will never be alone in these trials despite her best efforts.

My one word for 2015 is thankful. Because life is always more good than bad. Because being thankful leads to joy.

A Gift Before Dawn, At Noon, After Dark

76. Every morning, before dawn, I wake up, listen to the little pig squeal happiness as I fetch his yummy breakfast of veggies. I start the Keurig to brew the coffee, move down the counter to take my meds, move back up the counter to pour the coffee, and head to my favorite chair. I grab the iPad, check my email, read the word of the day and the thoughtful words from Ravi Zacharias “Slice of Infinity.” Open the She Reads Truth app and dig into the Word. Finally, I write a letter to God. This is my routine. This is how I set the stage for the whole day. Spending time with God before dawn.

77. At noon, on any given weekday, I get to serve the Lord by giving my co-workers a lunch break. Most of them have been hard at work since 6:45am, serving the patients who arrived bright and early in the morning for surgery. We are a team and each of us has an important role. This is a small snapshot of what I do during my day.

78. After dark, at the beach, the moon hanging in the sky illuminating the ocean, the pier. So beautiful.

I am choosing to be thankful this year. I mean really thankful. It’s my one word for 2015.

A Grace Borrowed, Found, Inherited

73. Every time I go home to visit the family, someone, usually my mom, will let me borrow a car so I can get around to visit all my friends and family.

74. The time I desperately needed a lot of money to pay for some unexpected bills that popped up. The Lord led me to look in an account I thought was empty. I found just enough money, a little more than the exact amount I needed!

75. Most people say I inherited my dad’s looks. I say there is some truth in that statement. But I also inherited some of my mom’s looks as well, along with her sharp wit and ability to laugh at her circumstances.

For all these things, I am so thankful.
