“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Dear world,

I hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas time! I mean that sincerely. I confess I haven’t looked at the news at all over the last several days. Because I have my whole little family together. And we are laughing and loving and road tripping and birthday celebrating! And I am so thankful! Next to Jesus, this is what Christmas time is all about for me. I hope this is the way your Christmas time is for you too!

And for those of you who are having a hard Christmas, my prayer for you is that you are wrapped in the arms of the merciful, loving peace of God in Christ Jesus. And if you haven’t met him yet, I pray you would search for him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. He is standing right in front of you. Waiting for you to call on his name. Waiting to give you the gift of himself. It’s Christmas. The perfect time for gifts. God bless you world!

Love Michelle

Silent night! Holy night! Son of God, love’s pure light Radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Dear World,

Do you know it is advent time? That Christ is coming? Immanuel means God with us. Would you stop for a minute or 100 to think about what you’re doing today? Are you making life better for folks? Worse? Would you stop to greet an orphan, widow, homeless guy? Would you be kind to your neighbors? Even just today? Would you turn off the news, noise, and get out there and enjoy your life, bring joy to life? Would you ponder how God came down to save us because he loves you? Yes YOU! Because he really is good. Would you take a minute or 100 to think about that?

Love Michelle

O come, O come, Emmanuel

And ransom captive Israel

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free

Thine own from Satan’s tyranny

From depths of Hell Thy people save

And give them victory o’er the grave

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer

Our spirits by Thine advent here

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night

And death’s dark shadows put to flight.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Key of David, come,

And open wide our heavenly home;

Make safe the way that leads on high,

And close the path to misery.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,

Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai’s height,

In ancient times did’st give the Law,

In cloud, and majesty and awe.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

December 28

Dear God,
It’s the day after the day after the day after Christmas. I am feeling blue. The little kid has gone home to northern Florida. The big kid is down the road. I am alone again. The Christmas season is so full of build up, so full of awesome, it’s really hard when you reach the day after. Like a switch, it’s turned off. I find it particularly hard because my kids are 2 of the best friends You have ever given me. And we had a really good time this week. SO now what do I do? How do I get the joy back that I was so full of just a few days ago? You know me God. I don’t have much motivation to reach out to my friends when I get like this. I need you. You’re the only One who truly gets me. Give me the strength to get up and push forward. I’m tired of getting stuck in sadness. I love you so much! Thank you for coming!
