I used to believe being a missionary meant getting on a plane, going to a far away place to live, to share the Gospel. Now I believe being a missionary means getting up in the morning, walking out my front door, sharing the Gospel with whomever I meet. The whole world is the mission field. And Jesus loves you! Yes! YOU!

In case you didn’t know, I used to suffer from depression and anxiety really badly. I used alcohol to create chemically induced happiness and medication to treat the symptoms. But I stopped sharing the problems out loud because people didnt want to deal with my pain. Then I met Jesus and it all began to change. On day 4 of my section hike, I met a man who reminded me of the old me. I sensed a deep sadness in him covered up by a lot of alcohol which made him super honest about his feelings. He said he drinks to repel people. Women in particular. He said Jesus is the only one he really loves. Jesus is the only one who really loves him. So I listened to a bit of his story, how he was discarded and abandoned by people who were supposed to love him and protect him. How the trail became his home. And how he is climbing his way up and back into society by getting work in different outdoor activities. But that deep deep sadness was still so apparent to me. So I pray, because our encounter was so brief.

Spruce Lake Retreat Center with my lovely sisters. I had an amazing time. I am incredibly thankful for this community of Bible believing, Jesus loving women ♥️
