Hello! My name is Michelle. I am a fixer. I am a surgical nurse. If you break it, I will be on the team that fixes it. You broke a bone? I got you. Your appendix is on fire? Got that too. God made me for this surgical role. I have always been drawn to fixing broken things. What I do is necessary and good.

But what do you do when you can’t fix something? Some things we face in life aren’t fixable, humanly speaking. Your heart is shattered because your spouse left you? I don’t know how to fix that. You got rejected for your dream job? Can’t fix that either. Let’s face it, I don’t control outcomes. Only God controls them. So what’s a fixer to do?

Sometimes the only solution to a problem is to show up. So I turn my eyes to Jesus. I remember everything He endured for me. I seek my courage from Him. I abide in Him so that when trouble comes for my friend, I am prepared to show up. Because when I show up, I know the ultimate Fixer shows up with me. And He is everything!

‘So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.’

Hebrews 4:16
