3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
I hike alone. But I don’t really hike alone. I may not be with people, but I am definitely not alone. Because I hike with Jesus, my Lord and Savior.
Of course when I hike with friends, there is a measure of peace. Safety in numbers. But that is not where perfect peace originates. Perfect peace comes when I keep my eyes, my whole mind fixed on Jesus.
So hiking alone does not cause me great fear. I may get nervous anticipating the hike, but once my feet hit the trail, I know the Lord is with me and he gives me courage and strength for the journey.
Shalom shalom. Perfect peace.
