Thankful_February 9_February 15

Personally, I think Sunday may be the best day to share the 21 things I have been thankful for all week long. Sunday is a good day to be thankful.

118. That I have the freedom in Christ to take control of my compulsions and then change my mind to document my thanks on the schedule that is right for me.

119. I have an anchor for my soul, my Savior, Jesus Christ.

120. With contacts I can see my face better than I have in years. I have a LOT of new lines and wrinkles. I’m trying to be thankful for them. I earned each and every one of them!

121. I tried to crash my bicycle two times, but the Lord protected me, the Lord kept me upright.

122. Chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels, the perfect blend of salty and sweet.

123. Babysitting a dog serves as a reminder that, even though I’m not much of a dog person anymore, they are still sweet and an example of unconditional love.

124. He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity. Job 36:15 Finding this tiny piece of truth helps me understand why some things happen, that God uses all of it for good.

125. That the Lord gave somebody the brainpower to invent Skype so I could have a video chat with a sweet friend who lives on the other side of the world in Australia. A. Ma. Zing.

126. That my job is so busy lately I am making all my hours.

127. Discovering that a bike ride at 5:30 in the morning is safer, quieter, and more peaceful.

128. Crushing the lie that my tears mean there is something wrong with me and choosing to believe my tears show what a deeply sensitive person I am.

129. Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. There’s always time for coffee!

130. 13 is my favorite number. Jesus plus his 12 disciples equals 13. I have never fallen for the superstitions about the number 13. I’m excited that it’s Friday the 13th. If the building has 20 floors, And you number the floors 12 14, 15… There are still 13 floors! You’re only fooling yourself.

131. Visiting the patient who spent 10 hours in surgery to remove a brain tumor seeing him sitting up in a chair, eating breakfast, awake, alert, and oriented. Hallelujah!

132. All the compliments from my sweet coworkers telling me I look younger without my glasses makes me feel pretty okay.

133. The moment you look in the mirror and discover you forgot to wipe the lotion into your skin so you actually have the look of Half finished mime make up? Excellent!

134. Shoe covers right when you accidentally dump bloody irrigation on yourself.

135. Being able to ride my bicycle with my #1 son for Habitat for Humanity to raise money to build a house and make some new friends and contacts.

136. Getting up early in the morning to Skype with a beautiful friend in South Africa.

137. Being alive by the grace of God to take a stand against pornography because if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.

138. Underscores as linebreaks rule!

What are you thankful for?

Happy Sunday! Rejoice in the Lord!

  1. It’s amazing what contacts enable us to see. The good thing is .. we can take them out πŸ™‚ And what a wonderful thing to be able to ride for Habitat but with your son! Such a great feeling to do something like that together. Have a great Sunday!

  2. All of them but 122,128 and 132 touched me personally. I’m grateful I made an appointment with my doctor (after months of putting it off) and that the deadline was extended for a scholarship application for summer camp. Thank you Jesus and Phew! Happy Sunday!

  3. I loved your admission of #120. I am afraid to look too closely at my lines and wrinkles! AMEN to #122! Pass the plate please! #128, such a great revelation. And I will join you in #129! Yes and AMEN! Have a blessed week and thanks for sharing at The Weekend Brew!

  4. Thank you for sharing the gifts that you are thankful for this week. My small wonder post was also my 1,000 gifts list. Thank you for the reminder that tears are a sign that I am sensitive person. I beat myself up far too much over crying over “nothing”, but it really isn’t nothing. It is good to feel deeply, and I need to embrace it. I hope you have a lovely week. I am stopping by from the #smallwonder link-up.

    • Hi Jolene. I had a hard time embracing my tears because we live in a culture that sees tears as weakness or manipulation. But they aren’t. I tried to stuff them down to make others comfortable. Not anymore. They are not wrong. I hope you will be able to embrace them too. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Michelle, it is a decision to be joyful in the midst of a world without Jesus. And I’m so glad you’ve shared your ‘decisions’ with us. The love of Jesus just shines out of your face!

  6. I’m laughing at #120 (new contacts) because I discovered many new things on my face when I got a 10x magnifying mirror. πŸ™‚ It wasn’t pleasant surprises either. ha. Nonetheless, yes, trying to be thankful for them because I earned them. Great attitude.

I love that you’re a deeply sensitive person. While that may cause you grief that you can experience pain deeply, it can also bring much blessing to others because you can sympathize with them in ways many other people cannot.

    • Thank you Lisa. My sensitivity can be quite overwhelming sometimes. It makes me want to withdraw. Thankfully, I have a job to get me out of my apartment. Sometimes that’s all it takes to change everything. πŸ™‚

  7. I really love your thankful lists. I find myself chuckling at some, being touched at others, and clapping with joy at many!

Thank you so much for sharing your heart. It cheers me up so much.

  8. #124 resonates with my heart very much. God used the book of Job during an incredibly painful time of my life and it will always be a part of scripture that stands out to me. Love your list!

  9. What an awesome list! BTW – I always thought you looked super-cool and contemporary in your glasses!!!!! – This – this just hit a spot: “He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity. Job 36:15 Finding this tiny piece of truth helps me understand why some things happen, that God uses all of it for good” – standing with you right there, believing in God’s great goodness even when it doesn’t look like it. The dog sitting made me laugh – I’m “dog” sitting my son’s two golden retrievers, 2 years and one 8 weeks + mine. I feel like I’m running a kennel!!!! – and I cannot stand dog smell! LOL Blessings and Shalom to you this week, Micey – I think if I had to be in the hospital, I’d definitely want you cheering me on!

  10. I love your attitude and loved reading this post! I’m thankful for new beginnings, and all the cool and exciting things that God has been doing in me and in my life, recently. πŸ™‚ Thanks for this post, God bless!!
