Today was my last day with Robert and Galen together. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we all piled into cars and headed up into the mountains to visit Robert’s favorite spot, Bake Oven Knob. The only people left behind were the oldest and youngest. They spent the day at the Dollar Store and Panera so they didn’t really suffer too much. We had a lot of fun hiking up the rock trail. And the view of the valley was stunning.
After the hike, we went to Yocco’s for the best hotdogs in the northeast. Okay, it’s like the fourth time we went to Yocco’s this week. Hey, we gotta get our dogs in for another year!
Robert and I took Galen to the airport earlier this evening. I decided a couple of months ago, I cannot get sad when I say goodbye to people anymore. It’s just too hard and too draining to allow sadness to flood over me. If I’m going to do this missionary life, I need to be filled with joy. I need to trust God to bring us together again. I need to live with the hope of next time because there could be hundreds of next times to look forward to. I know who holds tomorrow. And I know I will always be reunited with Galen because he knows Jesus. So today I refused to let the enemy steal my joy!
Enjoy the photos!
