These next 3 days are going to fly by as I am home with my family for the weekend before I head to Uganda. It’s just so nice to hang out with some of my most favorite people on the planet. I got in yesterday evening. I’m staying with my sister and praise God, she’s doing fantastic! She is back to her old self, the girl I remember. God is good. They saved a plate from dinner for me, chicken and pasta.
Today, I continue to prepare for the big trip. I have to unpack and repack to fit in the extra things I’m taking to Africa for Tom and Jean and Claudia. I’m hoping each bag will weigh no more than 50 pounds. That’s the weight limit. I’m taking more stuff than I’m used to on trips like this. I try to travel as light as possible. I went to the bank to pick up the cash I will need in Uganda, which entailed driving in the winter wonderland. What a treat! I haven’t seen snow in 6 years!
Tonight, I’m heading over to my brother’s house for dinner. He’s going to grill steak. Yes, he grills in the winter, despite the snow.
I’m looking forward to getting some quality time with his family. They have this cool rock band video game for the Wii. We have so much fun playing that game. I love to sing really loud. It’s karaoke in the house.
Tomorrow is my sister’s birthday. I’m so glad I had the chance to come home for the weekend. It doesn’t even matter that my hands and feet are cold. In 3 days I will be on my way back to summer! I’m so excited!
A few facts about Uganda:
- It is about the size of Oregon
- It is in east Africa
- It is surrounded by Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, + Democratic Republic of Congo
- natural resources are copper, cobalt, limestone, salt, gold
- population is 33,398,682
- life expectancy is 52.94 years
I just want to keep pinching myself. I’m going to Uganda! I can’t believe how utterly good and awesome God is! He chose me! Me! Blows me away! I have never loved anyone as much as I love Jesus! If you had told me 10 years ago where I would be today, I would have never have believed it. My life is better than I ever dreamed possible. Thanks God!
His… Michelle
